April 2016 Meeting – Getting Started with IoT

Title: Getting Started with IoT

Abstract: Interested in learning more about the Internet of Things (IoT) but not sure how it fits into your business? Want to avoid some common pitfalls on your first IoT project? We’ll also walk through a real-world scenario that delivers real-time insights using commodity devices and the Azure IoT Suite.

Speaker BioVince Fabro is the Practice Manager of the Enterprise Microsoft Solutions practice at Cardinal Solution’s Columbus, Ohio, branch. Vince loves building things and fixing things, and working with teams to achieve success. He’s been applying those passions to the IT industry for well over 20 years now – the past 20 as a consultant wearing many hats (developer, trainer, architect, mentor, manager). As a former certified trainer he has enjoyed training hundreds of students, and has presented technology topics at IT conferences and user groups for many years. Vince has specialized in Microsoft’s .NET technology stack for more than a decade now, and is always striving to learn more effective ways to build applications that solve challenging IT problems. For the past few years Vince has focused on cloud computing, specifically Microsoft Azure. Vince attended The Ohio State University to earn both his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and his Master of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering. He thoroughly enjoys his work, as well as hiking, bicycling, and traveling with his family.

From head to head performance and win records to undergraduate degrees and weather patterns, learn how to leverage large volumes of inconsistent data to draw actionable insights from your data.This presentation will include technical walkthroughs on Azure Machine Learning. No previous experience is required.

Speaker Bio: John is passionate about delivering application solutions for the cloud. John began his career in developing custom solutions and has since worn a number of different hats. From development to process guidance, from strategy to management, John’s entire professional life is delivering value for consulting customers.Five years ago, John collaborated with a flagship Fusion customer on migrating their entire application suite to the cloud and hasn’t looked back since. John has provided cloud strategy and implementation services to customers across the Midwest in industries as disparate as retail, financial services, logistics and energy. John is always seeking new methodologies, tools, and approaches to serve customers on their cloud journey.John holds a PSD and PSM and a BA in computer science from DePauw University.
